NW Home Fix

Service workflow software behind the NW Home Fix demonstration site

SmartFix organizes the operational work behind NW Home Fix, connecting customer requests, estimates, scheduling, invoicing, follow-ups, and planning in one service workflow.

Demo project

NW Home Fix demonstrates how SmartFix can support a real service business workflow. The public site and workflow system are presented here as a working portfolio demonstration.

Service flow / 01

From request to completed work

The workflow follows a service request from initial intake through estimating, scheduling, completion, invoicing, and follow-up without losing the context that connects each step.

Requests and estimates / 02

Turning customer requests into actionable work

Customer requests become structured work records that can be reviewed, estimated, scheduled, and followed through the rest of the service process.

Intake

Request detail

Customer descriptions, service category, timing, location, photos, and owner notes stay together in one reviewable request record.

Estimate

Controlled lifecycle

Owner-created estimates move through Draft, Sent, Accepted, Declined, or Superseded states while preserving revisions and customer responses.

Connection

Request-linked work

Estimates, visit details, portal access, invoices, and follow-up tasks remain connected to the request that started the work.

Scheduling and coordination / 03

Keeping the schedule connected to the job

Scheduling stays tied to the underlying request so appointment changes, confirmations, and customer communication remain connected to the work being performed.

Owner proposal

Propose a visit

The owner proposes a date and time window from Request Detail rather than placing an unreviewed appointment on the schedule.

Customer response

Confirm or request a change

The secure customer portal allows confirmation or a request for another time without giving customers direct scheduling control.

Shared context

Keep the request current

Proposed, Confirmed, and Change Requested states remain attached to the request and visible in planning views.

Estimate to invoice / 04

Carrying context from estimate to invoice

The workflow preserves the job context as approved work moves toward completion and invoicing, reducing the need to recreate information at each stage.

01 / Preserve

Accepted estimate

The customer-approved estimate remains unchanged as the source record.

02 / Convert

Linked invoice draft

The owner explicitly creates one editable invoice draft linked to the accepted estimate.

03 / Review

Finalize and deliver

The owner reviews line items, totals, tax, and notes before finalizing, downloading, or explicitly emailing the invoice.

Ongoing operations / 05

Work does not end when the job is complete

Follow-ups, analytics, and planning views help keep unresolved work visible and give the business a clearer picture of what needs attention next.

Follow-ups

Request-linked tasks

Owner tasks retain due dates, notes, and completion history while overdue and upcoming work stays visible.

Analytics

Operational summaries

Read-only views summarize request volume, lead sources, services, estimate outcomes, invoice totals, and items needing attention.

Planning

Today, week, and calendar

Planning views bring together visit activity, pending estimates, unscheduled accepted work, draft invoices, and dated follow-ups.

System visuals / 06

Inside SmartFix

Real project views show how requests move from owner review through scheduling, invoicing, and day-to-day planning.

Implementation / 07

What I built

  • 01A full-stack Flask application with persistent models for requests, estimates, invoices, and follow-up tasks, with scheduling state stored on each request.
  • 02Public request intake and an authenticated owner workspace for reviewing and managing service work.
  • 03Owner-controlled estimate states, revisions, secure customer responses, and linked invoice conversion.
  • 04A no-account customer portal for project status, visit responses, and customer-safe estimate and invoice details.
  • 05Request-linked follow-ups, operational analytics, and Today, This Week, and Calendar planning views.
  • 06Responsive interfaces, explicit customer email workflows, database migrations, and Railway deployment configuration.
